Hondarribia, Pasaia Donibane (San Juan) and San Pedro tour

Description

We’re in San Sebastián, ready to set out for Hondarribia, a fishing village located in the north east of Gipuzkoa. The colourful facades of the Calle San Nicolás will welcome you as you stroll through the town, and in the old part you can make your way through the Santa María de Atea Gate, stopping to pose alongside the famous “hatxero”. Do you know what he represents? You’ll also discover the Town Hall, the Casadevante Palace and the Zuloaga Palace.

Coming back onto the road we’ll make our way to San Juan, which waits for us at the foot of Mount Jaizkibel. We’ll take a stroll around the old quay and the fishermen’s houses hanging from the hillside, discovering some of the many stately homes and churches in this historical village. We’ll also have the opportunity to visit a typical 17th century house with direct access to the bay. Victor Hugo stayed here in 1843!

In San Juan we’ll board a fishing boat taking us across the bay to San Pedro, where we can continue to learn about the Basque fishing tradition. On arrival we’ll head into the old part of the town, following its cobbled streets with their sea views.

Finally, we’ll return to San Sebastián, where our excursion will end.
